Route:
Are you ready for an easy hike on dirt roads in the mountains? Yes? OK, then let’s get in the car and drive to Campo Cottage. From the car park, we will take the trail to Celentino Lake; the trail crosses the forest with firs, larches, Swiss pines, poplars and birches and sometimes you can spot some good mushrooms. Along the trail, you can also spot some strategic places to take photos of the wonderful sights. Before getting to the lake, we will see wonderful alpine pastures rich in flowers and sometimes mushrooms for those who are able to find them. The Celentino Lake area is a small plateau with a central marshland that turns into a small lake in warmer months when the ice melts; that is why the lake appears only at the beginning of the summer. The area offers beautiful sights as it overlooks the Ortles-Cevedale Range and the Tonale Pass. Dragonflies, flowers and the stunning view will make you feel like you are in a magical place. After taking more unforgettable photos and having some small chats, we will follow the loop back to the cottage where, if you want, you can have lunch.
Curiosity:
At Campo Cottage, there is an old diary, now turned into a museum, with rooms dedicated to the working of butter as well as the making and maturing of cheese. The furniture and tools are original, including the buckets for milking, the churns, the cauldron and other objects they needed for living in high pastures.
