Route:
The Tour of the Cevedale Lakes is always charming. From the hotel, we will drive to Malgamare. The hike is extremely beautiful. The trail runs along the foot of the glaciers among rocky moraines and blooming rhododendrons. Water is king and it shows in all its shapes: from a rill to a lake, from the clouds to some patches of snow. If you are attentive, you might see marmots and chamois. From the village of Malgamare, the trail climbs up to Pian Venezia at 2,300 m and, from there, we will continue to the Larcher Hut at Cevedale Mount. Then we will get to Marmot Lake. The charming tour of the Cevedale Lakes will start there: along the trail, you will see Lungo Lake below and we will get to the small Nero Lake where we can’t miss out on cooling our feet in the water before walking back on the descent that will lead us to the valley. Soon after Nero Lake, the imposing and bright blue Careser Lake will appear in front of us. From there, the way is a long descent and, step by step, we will return home.
Curiosity:
Careser Lake is at 2,603 m above the sea level; it is a basin made in 1931 for using the water from the Careser glacier for hydroelectrical purposes. It feeds the hydroelectrical power plants below for the production of clean energy. The dam is more than 50 m high there is no road to reach it.
