Route:
This trail will lead you to discover six wonderful alpine lakes at about 2,000 m above sea level. We will drive to Daolasa Village by car and then we will take the cableway. Then, on foot, we hike up Mount Vigo, which will offer us a complete panoramic view of the surroundings. From that point, we will start the hike to see the Marilleva lakes. The first lake is Alto Lake at 2,170 m; it’s a small body of water set up among the rocks of the overlying mountain and surrounded by juniper bushes. Going on a little, we will find the Three Lakes, close to each other and arranged on different levels and located in a depression with large rocks. The first one of the Three Lakes has very clear water and tiny rocky isles. The way is quite steep and large stones form a sort of staircase. Going down, we will pass close to Scuro Lake and, after crossing a wooded area and walking on wet ground, we will get to the famous Malghette Lake where there is also a hut. At the beginning of the summer, the lake is surrounded by blooming rhododendrons. In the fall, the larches around it change their colors and create a suggestive atmosphere. From Malghette Lake, we will come back to Daolasa.
Curiosity:
The rocks prove that glaciers were there in the past as they are smooth, rounded and marked by the erosive action of the glacier.
