Route:
From the village of Pejo, we enter the convenient dirt road that leads us to the Talé Cottage, now no longer used as mountain stables, but as the visitors’ center of the Stelvio National Park. The subject of the excursion is the mountain grouse. The hike is easy and the path is large and even. The view over the Val di Pejo and the Val de la Mare will accompany us along the way. A sensation of wellbeing and peace will surround us as well as the scents of the forest, the chirping of birds, the variety of mountain flowers, the pelting of hidden streams and the old mountain houses.
Curiosity:
The western capercaillies are typical birds living in the large cold prairies and forests of Northern Europe. During the glacial periods they moved to the South to run away from extreme cold and now we find them in our latitudes.
