We will leave on foot from the Kristiania Hotel and follow the road across the Val de la Mare, arriving at the entrance of the botanical trail in a few minutes. The loop pathway climbs up the orographic right side of the valley above the White Noce stream. Along that pathway, we will find the typical plants of the area described on the panel arranged by the Stelvio National Park. Along the short way, we will see a large number of plants such as the sycamore, black elderberry, red elderberry, hazel, larch, red fir, hawthorn, birch, white alder, aspen, cherry tree, ash tree, raspberry tree, rowan and many others.
Along the botanical path, we will find the little wooden house of the Stelvio National Park, which is used for catching deer, without hurting them, in order to collect data for monitoring them and then release them. The monitoring operations last one hour and include marking the animal and collecting some data such as sex, age, weight, length of the jaw, length of the rear hoof, circumference of the neck, total length, status of breastfeeding, number of antlers and length of rostrum.
